TFS Redesign

Regular readers may notice that TFS is looking rather different as from today! Yes, we’ve had a change-up of design which even if we do say ourselves, is looking pretty snazzy!

The big changes are;

1) The New Header

The old-style TFS didn’t really have a header other than the text that was present at the top of the screen. We wanted a bigger visual slug as soon as you got to TFS which has been achieved here with the bold typography & arresting image.

2) The Homepage

Before, when someone navigated to thefightsequence.com, they arrived at a rather boring, staid homepage that looked like a blog entry but that wasn’t a blog entry. Quite confusing and completely redundant. Additionally, to reach the TFS blog (the probable reason for coming here in the first place!), users would then have to navigate to the ‘Blog’ page. Seeing as the homepage was serving no purpose other than to create extra work for the readers, we decided to do away with the homepage and instead combine it with the blog. Now, navigating to thefightsequence.com takes you straight to the blog, and the old blog page has been retired.

3) The Sidebar

In old-style TFS, all the other content such as tags, archives, the twitter feed, could be found right at the bottom of the page, as is the trend at the moment for many blogs. After some thought, we decided that we would like to change this up to having a right-hand sidebar where all this information could be found. We found that for our blog readers, they preferred having this information in a more readily accessible place. Additionally, many readers were having difficulty locating these items, and thus, moving them up to a more prominent place on the blog seemed prudent.

4) Twitter Button

Way back in January 2010 when we had our very first TFS State of the Union, we told you that we were going to have better Twitter integration. We started tweeting links to our new posts so that you guys could get our content better. We have now gone the extra step by adding a Tweet this button to all new posts, making sharing our content with others even easier!

Those are the main four redesign issues that have been dealt with in this latest incarnation of TFS. Further minor changes to the blog will be rolled out over the next couple of weeks but nothing too drastic! We hope you enjoy perusing new-look TFS and sharing in our content!
