Eu So Quero e Ser Feliz

I recently found a batch of old old photos stuffed in a box in my room. And when I say old, I mean, I think they were taken with a massive, 3mp camera, developed to never see the light again! I remember the photo-taking really distinctly though. It was when I, together with my Dad, went to Rio de Janeiro to visit some family. It was the first real time I had gone to Brasil when I could actually appreciate it. I remember being awestruck by everything. Looking back at the photos I took, I wish I had taken more, of more interesting subjects. They seem to be mostly your standard views, and I wish I had known back then to widen my repertoire. I guess its not all bad, definitely an excuse to go back soon!

Anyway, I dutifully scanned them up, and uploaded them to Flickr, which you can find here! However, please check out my most favourite shots from the set below!

Brasil

I love this shot, because it looks so mystical and nether-wordly, so exotic. I have no idea where I was when I took this, but I cannot BELIEVE that I was ever there. Wow.

Brasil

This must have been in the cale car on the way up to Sugar Loaf Mountain. I love the effect the mist has on the cable cars as they ascend out of the fog.

Brasil

This is my most favourite shot out of the bunch. This was the view from our hotel, right on Copacabana beach. I love the miniature little people in the sea and the miniature orange umbrellas on the beach. The swell of the wave is also pretty awesome and adds some edge and menace to the photo! You almost can’t believe that that massive frothy monster won’t sweep all those tiny little people away!

Brasil

This is also a favourite, but mostly because I think it really accurately represents the sense of craziness at that football game. And this was taken at probably the calmest moment, before the match had started! We were at the famous Maracana stadium, watching 2 of the biggest local teams play. Not long after this picture was taken, riot police descended on the people in the unseen part of the stadium (No, I am not kidding!). It was an amazing experience, as well as very scary.

Brasil

The imposing statue of Jesus Christ is a well-known Rio landmark. What is little less known is the perils of trying to get a good shot of it! The place is crammed to the brim the whole time with tourists all attempting to get the perfect shot! Madness, surreal, but well worth it.
