Stand Up. Walk Away From Your Desk. Get OUT!

I live next to this wide open space which is full of fields and wildlife and grass and the great great outdoors. Ever since my internment indoors began as I write my dissertation over the summer, the park has begun to exercise an allure over my imagination that no amount of staring out of the window can allay.

I’ve been going on regular walks in the park to clear my head of an early evening, because working inside all day does absolute nothing for the imagination or for my mental wellbeing. My favourite type of evening to go is around sunset time on a warm and slightly breezy day. Just like a couple of nights ago.

I took my camera, which I kind of always think I should do, but then I worry that my walk won’t be as vigorous when I stop every 2 seconds to take a picture. BUT I decided to bring the camera this time and boy was I glad, because conditions were perfect and it was really nice to see everything so familiar in a new light.

Anyway, the big point of all this is get out of your room and away from your desk! You cannot just sit in front of the computer screen and expect to do your best work. Once in while (and probably more than that really), you need to just leave your room!

I’m so glad I remembered this before my hermit-dom became a fatal condition!
